A huge thank you to Near North’s own Jerry Torr for his leadership in authoring HB1056 to negate the witness proof requirement for recorded documents. Representative Torr saw firsthand the disruption the requirement placed on the industry and fought to get it repealed.
Governor Eric Holcomb signed HB 1056 today and it is effective immediately. Any documents recorded after July 1, 2020 may not be challenged on the basis of not complying with the previous statute requiring the witness and proof.
